Broadcom - Hãng sản xuất linh kiện cho Apple bị thâu tóm với giá 37 tỉ USD

Broadcom, nhà cung cấp linh kiện sản xuất iPhone, đã bị hãng công nghệ Singapore giàu có, Avango mua lại với giá 37 tỉ USD.


Broadcom là nhà sản xuất linh kiện điện tử bán dẫn có tiềng trên thế giới. Các sản phẩm chính cả họ là chip Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, 3G, 4G LTE. Sản phẩm của hãng rất được các hãng sản xuất điện thoại danh tiếng như Alcatel-Lucent, Apple, Huawei, Samsung chọn lựa để lắp đặt vào điện thoại của mình.

Thời gian gần đây Broadcom đã gặp một số khó khăn trong việc tạo ra sản phẩm mới để tạo ra sự khác biệt với đối thủ. Hồi tháng 7 năm ngoái công ty đã phải đóng cửa bộ phận chịu trách nhiệm về chip băng thông rộng do không tìm được người mua, đồng thời sa thải hơn 2500 nhân viên trên toàn cầu.

Trong khi đó, Avago là một công ty Singapore chuyên sản xuất linh kiện điện tử như cáp quang, đèn LED, bộ điều khiển cử động, bộ thu phát sóng radio, chip nhớ dùng trong SSD doanh nghiệp, chip PCI... Dù doanh số ít hơn nhưng Avago lại có mức độ tăng trưởng từng năm nhanh chóng.

Nhận thấy cơ hội lớn để thâu tóm được một đối thủ hàng đầu, Avago đã không ngại chi tới 37 tỉ USD (17 tỉ USD tiền mặt + 20 tỉ giá trị cổ phiếu) thuyết phục phía đối tác. Thương vụ này được cho là có mục đích giúp Avago đa dạng hoá sản phẩm, quảng bá thương hiệu hãng và sở hữu toàn bộ bằng sáng chế quý giá của Broadcom.

CEO của Avago, ông Hock Tan chia sẻ: " Hôm nay (ngày thông báo Avago mua thành công Broadcom) sẽ đánh dấu một mốc son lịch sử trong lĩnh vực sản xuất thiết bị, linh kiện bán dẫn ".

Dự kiến đến quý đầu tiên của năm 2016 thì thương vụ sẽ kết thúc.

Intel mua lại Altera - Công ty chuyên sản xuất mạch điện tử

Theo tờ nhật báo phố Wall số ra sáng nay thì Intel đang hoàn tất những thủ tục cuối cùng để thực hiện thương vụ mua lại Altera - hãng chuyên sản xuất các mạch tích hợp cỡ lớn - với cái giá 17 tỷ USD.

Đây là một thông tin khá mới lạ khi trước đó chính Intel đã bác bỏ khả năng thành công của vụ mua bán này.

Theo báo cáo ban đầu thì số tiền mà Intel phải chi cho 1 cổ phiếu của Altera là 54 USD, đây được coi là hồi kết của một thương vụ đã xuất hiện trên nhiều tờ báo có tiếng về tài chính suốt từ ngày 27/ 3 đến giờ. Trong suốt thời gian đàm phán thì giá trị thương vụ này đã tăng 56% so với thời điểm ban đầu.

Đây là một trong những vụ mua bán điển hình trong thời gian qua trên thị trường phần cứng, có thể điểm qua một vài thương vụ khác đã hoàn tất như Avago Technologies tuyên bố mua lại Broadcom với giá 37 tỷ USD vào tuần trước hay NXP chi 11,8 tỷ USD để sở hữu hoàn toàn Freescale. Hiện tại tổng giá trị của thị trường phần cứng vi mạch đã chạm mốc 335 tỷ USD, một con số khổng lồ!

Nếu Intel hoàn tất được thương vụ này thì họ sẽ nắm trong tay một trong những hãng sản xuất mạch tích hợp cho các hệ thống máy chủ, máy trạm có tiếng nhất trên thị trường và nhiều chuyên gia dự đoán đây là bước đi tiếp theo trong việc chinh phục lĩnh vực Internet of Things của Intel.

The Basys2 board is a circuit design and implementation platform that anyone can use to gain experience building real digital circuits.
